Becoming a Member

Reasons for joining our Fire Company

1) Wanting to provide a community service. The President has asked all Americans to look at ways they can volunteer in their communities. The Fire Department is a very positive way to impact your community.

2) A new challenge for yourself. Becoming a firefighter will require growth and overcoming obstacles as well as facing new challenges.

3) A related personal experience or incident. Perhaps a friend or relative has suffered from a devastating fire. This may have inspired you to help make a difference, to help people when fire or other emergencies threaten their homes or lives.

4) Perhaps there is a family tradition. Is one of your relatives a firefighter?

5) Maybe you used to be a firefighter in another town, and now would like to join your local fire department.

Who Can Join? Any male or female age 18 and over. You can join as an Active / Probationary, Fire Police, or Associate member. Any male or female ages 16-17 can join as a junior member, with consent from Parent / Guardian. All new members must complete an application process.

How Can You Join? We have included an online Application on this page for anyone who is interested in joining our organazation. (Please note this is only an online preliminary application and you will be required to complete the actual application when meeting with one of our Officer's at the firehouse). You can also contact us from our Contact Page or come down to the firehouse any monday night (7:00 pm through 8:00 pm) to fill out the actual application and or see what we are all about. If you would rather call one of the stations (Contact Us Page) and leave a message and your contact phone number, one of our Officer's will get in touch with you ASAP.

To become an active firefighter for our Company you will need to complete the NJ State Firefighter 1 course. After which you will be required to complete annual refresher classes at the firehouse and or the fire academy which are in the form of drills that we conduct. We conduct our drills, work details, and meetings on monday nights. We will supply all of your training, gear and uniforms that you will need to become an active member of the Franklin Township Fire Department. During the course of the year we have fund raisers which include, A Roast Beef Dinner, A Spaghetti Dinner, Pancake Breakfasts, A Coin Toss, Our Annual Fund Drive, Raffles, etc. For more information go to our Contact Page and we will get back to you asap.
